Officials mull tower’s impact
BILLINGS – Yellowstone National Park officials say they will consider whether a cellular-phone tower near Old Faithful that is considered an eyesore by some could be shortened or camouflaged to better blend with the landscape.
In a letter, Yellowstone Superintendent Suzanne Lewis wrote that conditions at the tower site have changed since November 1999, when park officials approved a “finding of no significant impact,” clearing the way for construction of the tower in 2001.
Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility questions whether the 100-foot tower should be near Old Faithful.
