Folsom scored goal

Because of a reporting error, the player scoring the winning goal in Cheney’s 3A regional soccer playoff game was misstated in a story and headline in Wednesday’s sports section. The goal was scored by Patrick Folsom.

Speltz is Chiefs manager

Because of a reporting error, the Spokane Chiefs general manager was misidentified in a story in Wednesday’s sports section. His name is Tim Speltz.

Owl research included 1985 to 2003

In a Tuesday story about the northern spotted owl, the Associated Press reported erroneously that a study found populations had declined range-wide by 4.1 percent over the five-year period, from 1998 to 2003. The study found the decline was 4.1 percent a year over the period 1985 to 2003. Also, U.S. Forest Service biologist Eric Forsman said he incorrectly stated the rate of decline for the 1998 analysis was 3.5 percent. The actual rate was 3.9 percent annually.
