Excited about visit by Olympians

The Spokesman-Review

For all of us who love the game of women’s fastpitch, we have perhaps the opportunity of our softball life to experience our local outstanding female standouts competing against our USA Olympic softball team. The Olympians are preparing for the Athens Olympics.

Thanks to our Spokane ASA commissioner, Fuzzy Buckenburger, special arrangements were worked out for the Olympians to make a stop in Spokane on June 12 at Franklin Park.

While our selection process ended up with an exceptional and very competitive team, we suffered a great loss when learning recently that Ashley Lynn, one of the most skilled and deserving of our selections, tore an ACL, rendering her unavailable to play in this most prestigious local event. I know her dad and long-time coach has good reason to be disappointed. George Lynn will be one of our local all-star coaches and would have had one more opportunity to coach his own daughter in such a great Spokane athletic event.

Good luck Ashley, and I pray for your successful recovery.
