Harrison selected as player of the week

From news and wire service reports

Washington State University running back Jerome Harrison was named Pacific-10 Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week following his record-breaking performance Saturday at UCLA.

Harrison carried a school-record 42 times for 247 yards and three touchdowns in the Cougars’ 31-29 victory over the Bruins at the Rose Bowl. The yard total of the Kalamazoo, Mich., native was the third most in school history.

“I give my offensive line all of the credit,” the Pasadena City College transfer said. “Calvin Armstrong, Bobby Byrd, Nick Mihlhauser, Norvell Holmes, and Sam Lightbody should be the Pac-10 Player of the Week, in my opinion. They did a great job.”

Harrison shared the offensive award with Arizona State quarterback Andrew Walter. Wilrey Fontenot of Arizona was selected on defense while Southern California’s Reggie Bush was picked on special teams.
