Home near WVHS up for sale, removal

The Spokesman-Review

The West Valley School District is looking for a buyer to purchase an old home, load it up and haul it away.

The district approved a call for a bid Tuesday night to sell a surplus house purchased by the district

Sept. 22.

The house, on Vista Road, was purchased to make room for a new parking lot at West Valley High School, which is scheduled to undergo a remodel.

The new high school, paid for with a 20-year $35 million bond passed in May, is going to be built close to the road.

The district approached the owners of the home, which sits directly across from the proposed events entrance to the new high school, and the owners agreed to sell.

The district paid $105,000 for the home.

The space will be used for a parking lot, because the construction of the new gymnasium would take up part of the school’s existing parking lot.

The district is hoping someone will purchase the home, and remove it from the property.

“If no one bids on the home, we will most likely bid for someone to demolish and take it away,” said Superintendent Dave Smith.

The family is moving out of the home at the end of November, and interested buyers may not have access to the home until Dec. 17. They will have until Dec. 22 to haul it away.
