Two schools locked down following assault at Albertsons

The Spokesman-Review

A man punched two people at a Millwood grocery store Wednesday, and prompted lock-downs at nearby West Valley schools.

A customer and employee were punched in the face without apparent provocation at Albertsons, 8800 E. Trent Ave., according to a press release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

A witness and another Albertsons employee followed the suspect outside to his Camaro. The suspect pulled a pistol, pointed it at them, and drove away, said sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.

Although no shots were fired, West Valley High School and the Millwood Early Childhood Education Center went into a voluntary lockdown.

Witnesses wrote down the suspect’s license plate. The Camaro is registered to a Spokane man and police are looking for him, Reagan said. The man could face charges for assault, Reagan said.

The suspect was described as a white male in his early to mid 30s, 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds. He was wearing a dark green down jacket, jeans and sunglasses and had short, brown hair. The Camaro was red with a black passenger door, Reagan said.

Anyone who witnessed the event is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
