Clemens’ son signs with Texas

Associated Press

HOUSTON – Roger Clemens’ son signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball for the University of Texas.

Koby Clemens, a senior at Houston’s Memorial High School, signed the papers at his Houston home.

“From what I have learned, he has signed,” Mike Forcucci, sports information director for baseball at Texas, told The Associated Press.

“It kind of hit me just a little bit because it’s always been a dream for me to go play at UT,” Koby Clemens told Houston television station KRIV.

His father, who last week won his record seventh Cy Young Award in his first year in the National League, was a star pitcher at Texas in the early 1980s. Koby Clemens will start his career as a third baseman.

Koby hit .413 as a junior.
