Help area students fill the bus

The Spokesman-Review

Central Valley middle school students will be at five area grocery stores this weekend collecting food donations for the Spokane Valley Food Bank.

The annual “Fill the Bus” food drive will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at:

Safeway, Evergreen Road and Sprague Avenue

Albertsons, 32nd Avenue and Highway 27

Albertsons in Liberty Lake, 1304 N. Liberty Lake Road

Tidyman’s, Sprague Avenue and McDonald Road

Tidyman’s, Argonne Road and Interstate 90

Students have helped pre-bag food items, which grocery store patrons can purchase for $5 each. The bags will then be loaded onto school buses, and delivered to the Spokane Valley Community Center Saturday evening.

The community center is also in need of 800 turkeys to help needy families this Thanksgiving, said Margie Tibbits, a Horizon Middle School teacher who also serves on the community center’s auxiliary. The students will also collect frozen turkeys at Saturday’s food drive, and deliver them to the center, Tibbits said.
