Jazz concerts at EWU begin tonight

The sixth annual Eastern Washington University Jazz Dialogue Festival features concerts tonight, Friday and Saturday at Showalter Auditorium on the Cheney campus.

Pianist Phil Markowitz, a Manhattan School of Music professor, gets things started tonight with his trio, followed by Portland-based vocalist Nancy King and pianist Steve Christofferson on Friday.

Saturday sees local trombonist Bob Curnow, a Stan Kenton veteran, and his big band, along with the Spokane All-City Jazz Band.

All concerts begin at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students (free for EWU students with ID). For more information, call (509) 359-7073.
