Spokane Symphony playing at Schuler Auditorium

The Spokane Symphony makes its first visit of the season to Coeur d’Alene on Friday with a program of popular favorites at 8 p.m. in North Idaho College’s Schuler Auditorium.

Selections by new Music Director Eckart Preu include Nielsen’s Suite from the Ballet “Aladdin,” Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” and Vivaldi’s “The Seasons – Autumn and Winter,” featuring Concertmaster Kelly Farris and Principal Second Violin Jason Bell as soloists.

Monday music in Metaline Falls

Eastern Washington University student composers will debut and discuss their works in the first of a Monday Evening Concerts series on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cutter Theatre in Metaline Falls, Wash.

The concert also will include brief selections by 12th-century Benedictine Abbess Hildegard of Bingen. Tickets are $10, which includes a wine reception at 6:30 p.m.; call (509) 446-4108.
