Holiday in Lights parade event to be broadcast live on KXLY

From staff reports

Coeur d’Alene’s annual Holiday in Lights parade will be broadcast live this year on KXLY.

The parade begins at 5 p.m. Friday at the corner of Eighth and Sherman Avenue, and travels west. Caroling church groups, marching bands and the Red Hot Mamas are stalwarts of the parade, which includes about 40 entries this year.

A lighting ceremony and fireworks immediately follows the parade on the lawn of the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

During the weeks before Christmas, a number of special events also are planned for Coeur d’Alene’s downtown. Free horse-drawn carriage rides are available from 3-7 p.m. every Saturday beginning Dec. 4, and daily from Dec. 20 to Dec. 23.

Strolling carolers also will provide music downtown on the same dates.

Photos with Santa will be available at the Plaza Shops from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12; from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 15 and Dec. 22; and from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 23. Proceeds will benefit the Library Building Fund.

The Coeur d’Alene Resort will offer 40-minute “Journey to the North Pole” cruises. Tickets are $11.75 for adults, children 10 and under are free. From information, call (208) 664-7268.
