Emmil’s TD passes key Colville’s upset

Tyler Emmil threw two touchdown passes to Dan Bell, and Ryan Balis returned an interception for a TD to spark Colville (6-1) to a 35-7 non-league upset of No. 5 Meridian of Bellingham at Cashmere.

DavidPalumbo and John Roberts also ran for scores. Meridianis the 2A defending champion, and Colville won its fifth straight game, with its only loss coming 20-14 at Lakeland.

Colville and No. 4 Pullman are the two remaining teams undefeated in the Great Northern League. They meet the last week of the regular season at Colville.

Girls soccer

Deer Park outlasted Lakeside 2-1, taking the shootout tiebreaker 3-1 to create a logjam for third place in the Great Northern League. Jacy Fitzpatrick scored for Lakeside (3-5) in the 60th minute to tie the game, but the Stags (3-5) got shootout goals from Jaclynn Watson, Rachael Attridge and Melissa Menzia. Chewelah and Medical Lake are also tied for third. … Katie Spangenberg scored twice as Pullman (7-1) won at Colville (1-7) 4-1.

Volleyball

Lakeside (7-2) swept visiting Medical Lake (1-7) 25-12, 25-17, 25-18 behind 13 kills and seven digs from Richelle Collins.
