All flu shots spoken for; more unlikely

From staff reports

The Spokane Regional Health District has scheduled appointments for all 2,000 of its flu vaccinations and probably won’t schedule any more.

An additional 400 people are on a wait list and will be called if more appointments become available. The health district’s Julie Graham said no more names will be taken.

All 2,000 appointments were given to people age 65 and over or 6 to 23 months old, pregnant women or those with high-risk medical conditions.

“We are urging people who did not get an appointment to practice common-sense disease prevention to reduce their chances of getting respiratory diseases like the flu,” said Dr. Kim Marie Thorburn, health officer for Spokane County.
