Resettlement agency moves into new office in Spokane

From staff reports

World Relief, a nonprofit resettlement agency for refugees and immigrants, is expanding its services and has moved to a new office.

So far this year, World Relief’s local office has resettled 327 refugees, found jobs for 132, provided social services to 250, and helped roughly 1,000 people dealing with immigration issues.

That’s an increase of about 25 percent compared with previous years, according to David Holter, executive director of World Relief’s Spokane office.

While more than 50 percent of those assisted by World Relief hail from the former Soviet republics, an increasing number are from Africa, he said.

The local agency now has a staff of 18, including an attorney who provides immigration and general legal services to refugees and immigrants.

Known as the relief and development assistance arm of the National Association of Evangelicals, World Relief is looking for more volunteers, Holter said.

The agency’s new office is at 1522 N. Washington, Suite 204.
