Web sites offer deals on Europe, Amtrak

Two Web site overhauls could save you money.

The European Travel Commission has revamped its site ( www.visiteurope.com), making it an even better resource. A link takes you to Hot Deals in Europe (everything from cruises to castle stays) and provides online booking as well as toll-free numbers for more information.

To celebrate the launch of its improved Web site ( www.amtrak.com), Amtrak is offering a 10 percent discount of the lowest available fares for tickets booked online through Dec. 15. To get the discount, enter H431 in the Promotion Code box during Step 2 of the booking process. Also helpful: Change fees have been eliminated.

Southwest Airlines has revived its double credit for Rapid Rewards members. The twist: Tickets must be purchased at www.southwest.com using a Visa card. Travel must be completed by Dec. 15. With the offer, four round trips will earn free travel.

In a similar offer valid through Jan. 31, get double AirTran A+ Rewards credits when you book at www.airtran.com. Under the promotion, two round-trip flights will earn a free one-way ticket.

Families can ski this winter and enjoy free airfare for one child (12 or younger) per paying adult to any United Vacations ski destination, including Colorado, Canada, Utah, Montana, New Mexico and California/Nevada’s Lake Tahoe.
