City to get new convenience store

Nils Rosdahl The Spokesman-Review

Possibly the hottest property in Coeur d’Alene is the three-lot parcel across Neider Avenue from Costco at the intersection with Fourth Street.

A few weeks ago a “sold” sign appeared, but those who knew anything wouldn’t reveal it because the deals hadn’t closed. This week, the ground in the western third of the parcel is scraped level and dotted with survey stakes. In a few months the 3,000-square-foot building in the space will be the Get and Go drive-through convenience store. Basically, it’ll be just the opposite of Costco, where it’s almost impossible to grab a quick item and run.

The Get and Go will be divided in halves with the drive-through between. From their cars, customers will order nearly any beverage (except hard liquor) and ready-made gourmet lunches and meals. Everything will be kept in coolers and handed through vehicle windows. The inventory will include soft drinks, beer, wine, juice, water and milk.

Five employees will operate Get and Go from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily when it opens around early February. The building is being constructed by Steel Structures of America in Coeur d’Alene. Owners and operators are Michelle (daughter) and Jimmie (mother) Dial, who came to Coeur d’Alene from Austin, Texas, and Virginia. They also offer off-site catering. The Dials own the Get and Go property and recently sold the other two lots for which the deals have not closed. GMAC Realtor Dan Brockway said the center parcel will be a financial institution, and the eastern one is undetermined.

RV storage on Garwood

The first phase of the 240-unit Hayden Lake Executive RV and Boat Storage will open Sept. 14. The 75,000-square-foot building will include 90 units that are 16 by 48 feet in size. They’re for sale, not rent.

The second-phase building will open in March. It’s all on 15 acres off Garwood Road west of Highway 95. Owner Bob Holland has done similar projects in Arizona and Nevada. He says the concept works because, “You can buy it for the same price that you can rent it. We’ve already sold 22 percent of Phase 1.”

Originally from Spokane and educated at Washington State University, he returned to the Inland Northwest from Escondido, Calif., and is active with the Booster Club at North Idaho College. Floyd and Carol Richmond will be the on-site managers in Coeur d’Alene. Steel Structures is the builder.

RV sales on Fourth Street

In order to store RVs, you first need to buy them. Michael and Lisa Ringer hope you’ll do that at their new Fourth Street RV/Truck Center at 2708 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. The 35-vehicle lot is between Mark Mint Detailing and The Long Ear.

The Ringers recommend their business based on 25 years of experience and their competitive prices because of their low overhead expenses. In late February they’ll add new Shadowcruiser travel trailers. They came to Coeur d’Alene from Yuma, Ariz., where Michael worked for a similar company that also owned Seltice RV in Post Falls, where he eventually transferred. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and until 5 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 765-8460.

A few tidbits

An open house to commemorate the merger of Job Service and Idaho Commerce and Labor will be 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at what formerly was Coeur d’Alene’s Job Service location at 1221 W. Ironwood. The merger was proposed by Gov. Dirk Kempthorne and approved by the Idaho Legislature last year. The new Web site is at www.cl.Idaho.gov.

“As announced last week, Fred’s Appliance will be a major tenant in the revamping of the former Rosauers building at Highway 95 and Appleway, Coeur d’Alene. Building owner Dave Black of Tomlinson-Black Realty said the 60,000-square-foot building will be trimmed 10,000 square feet to allow more parking and better exposure to the west. Fred’s has 9,020 square feet, the Tuesday Morning store has 8,500 and about 33,000 remain available. Phone (509) 623-1000.
