Spokane City Council

Tuesday, 3:30 p.m., council chambers, City Hall, briefing on Sept. 13 meeting and approval of routine agenda items.

Tuesday, 6 p.m., council chambers, City Hall, resolution and ordinance placing a $117 million street improvement bond on the November ballot. Also, an initiative proposal to modify Spokane’s new helmet law is up for public discussion.

Spokane Valley City Council

6 p.m., Tuesday, City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave. Study session, topics include gambling tax, response to Spokane County commissioners’ letter regarding wastewater assets, fire district annexation, parks and recreation master plan update, managed competition update, planned unit development requirements and the 2005 budget. Although it’s a study session, public comments will be taken.

Spokane Valley community meeting

Open house: 6:30 p.m. Meeting: 7 p.m. Thursday, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave. Draft chapters of the comprehensive land-use plan will be discussed. This is a continuation of meetings held last spring. The comprehensive plan will affect property use in the city, so the public is encouraged to attend.

Spokane Regional Transportation Council

Thursday, 1:30 p.m., Spokane Intermodal Facility, 221 W. First, agenda at meeting.

Spokane County commissioners

Tuesday, 9 a.m., Spokane County Courthouse, 1116 W. Broadway Ave., weekly meeting with the county’s chief executive officer. The agenda includes the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau and an air handler.

2 p.m., weekly meeting on non-hearing items, commissioners’ hearing room, Public Works Building, 1026 W. Broadway.

5 p.m., meeting on hearing items, including several grants, the Aquifer Protection Area and creating a no-shooting area for Quinimose.

Spokane Transit Authority/Spokane Regional Transportation Council

Thursday, 1:30 p.m., STA south side conference room, 1229 W. Boone Ave. The two groups will hold a joint board meeting.
