Walk event will aid tissue, organ donations

By The Spokesman-Review

The Living Legacy Foundation at LifeCenter Northwest is hosting a 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) walk to raise awareness and funds for the critical need for organ and tissue donors.

Right now there are more than 85,000 people across America and 1,200 in this region on the waiting list for an organ transplant. Seventeen people die every day while waiting.

LifeCenter Northwest is hoping this walk will help to spread the word about the need for donors.

Participants will begin registration at 9 a.m. Saturday at Spokane’s Mission Park. The cost is $15.

There will be prizes for the top fund-raising team and individuals. The funds will go toward education and awareness of organ donation in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

To register for the walk or to become an organ donor, visit the Web at www.livinglegacyregistry.org or call (877) 275-5269.
