Churches switching to fall schedules

Several Valley churches are jumping into the fall season with both feet, kicking off Sunday school programs and new schedules this weekend.

•Sunday is a busy day at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. The church will kick off its program year, starting up Sunday school, youth group and kids choir. Services will begin at 8 and 10 a.m. and a Grandparents Day barbecue will follow the 10 a.m. service.

Those attending the meal are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share. The church will provide the burgers and hot dogs.

Also on Sunday, the youth group will hold a car wash from 8 to 11 a.m. The church is located at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

•The fall schedule of 9 a.m. education and 10 a.m. worship begins Sunday at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road. The church will also host its “Spick and Span” potluck Sunday at 5 p.m.

•Worship services will now begin at 9:30 and 11 a.m. each Sunday at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave. Sunday school classes will be held during each service.

•The Veradale United Church of Christ will now begin worship service at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. A potluck lunch will follow the service. Those attending are asked to bring a main dish, salad or dessert to share.

The church is located at 611 N. Progress Road.

•Sunday is Rally Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church. From 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. there will be a carnival with games, a jumping castle, and food. Registration for Sunday school will be held during that time.

The church is returning to its fall schedule of traditional worship at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday, with Sunday school at 9:45 and a contemporary service at 10:45. The church is located at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave.

•Millwood Presbyterian will also host a Rally Day event Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Worship will begin at 9:30 followed by a carnival until 1. There will be games, jumping castle and food items available for purchase. The Valley Fire Department will have a fire engine on display.

The church is located at 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

•The fall schedule begins Sunday at the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road. There are now services at 9 and 11 a.m., adult Bible study at 9 and 10:30 and children’s Bible study at 9.

Precept Bible study

A Precept Bible study class focusing on the book of Joshua will begin Tuesday at the Berean Bible Church, 10918 E. Boone Ave. The Precept Bible classes are described as a nondenominational inductive Bible study.

The weekly classes will be held from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Workbooks are $15.50 and homework will be assigned. Child care will be available.
