The new Spokane Convention Center exhibit hall could become one of the region’s most prominent “green” buildings when it’s finished.

Proposed features such as drought-tolerant landscaping or locally sourced construction materials have benefits for the environment and for energy efficiency, and they count toward official certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Such certification matters to some of the groups who might consider meeting here, convention organizers say.
