Delta Air, Alaska Air Group sign code-sharing deal
ATLANTA — Delta Air Lines Inc. has formed a code-sharing partnership with Alaska Air Group Inc.’s Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air units.
Atlanta-based Delta on Thursday said the carriers agreed to share flight codes and to start offering lounge and frequent-flyer benefits for each other’s customers.
The carriers also plan to discuss other areas of cooperation, such as air logistics and expanded cooperation with facilities and passenger handling programs.
Seattle-based Alaska Air confirmed the code-sharing deal.
The agreements, subject to Department of Transportation review, also requires approval from the pilots’ union at Delta.
On Wednesday, Deloitte & Touche LLP issued a notice to Delta questioning the carrier’s ability to continue as a going concern.
The auditor cited Delta’s recurring losses, labor problems and liquidity issues.
