Suspects arrested in burglary ring case

POCATELLO, Idaho – At least seven people have been arrested by Pocatello police investigating a burglary ring that struck businesses starting in December.

Police said members of the ring were stealing cash and other valuables to buy methamphetamine. More than 20 businesses in Chubbuck, Pocatello, Inkom and Soda Springs were hit by the thieves.

Safes were stolen in some of the crimes, and thieves have also pried open or made off with automated teller machines.

Capt. Kirk Nelson said members of the ring were looking out for each other, so it took police longer than usual to catch them. Thieves were operating out of at least two Pocatello locations where authorities with search warrants recovered some stolen items, Nelson said.

The seven people, five men and two women ranging from 25 to 42 years old, are accused of crimes ranging from possession of drugs to grand theft.
