Jaycees Junior Golf champion

Spokane golfer Al Mengert, center, receives a trophy after winning his first U.S. Jaycees Junior Golf Championship in August 1946 at Indian Canyon Golf Course. Mengert won the following year as well. Runner-up Spike Beeber, right, watches as Sid Piper, vice president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, presents the prize. Mengert went on to play in 29 major championships and 19 major senior championships.
