Murder charges dropped against man

Associated Press

NAMPA, Idaho – Prosecutors say there isn’t enough evidence to pursue first-degree murder charges against a Nampa man accused of shooting his roommate last month.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Alberto Francisco Camacho after he called authorities saying 21-year-old Maria Del-Carmen Ofelia had killed herself on March 14. The two shared an apartment.

Camacho was charged with first-degree murder but the charge was dismissed after lab tests could not link him to the slaying, said Canyon County Prosecutor Dave Young.

He said Camacho would not face other charges.

After the charges were dropped, Camacho remained in custody on an immigration hold.
