Lance Carr ripped a first-inning, two-run triple to start Lakeland on the road to a 10-7 Inland Empire League baseball victory at Post Falls on Friday.

Post Falls came back to tie the game at 4 in the bottom of the third inning, but Carr came on to pitch in relief and held the Trojans to a single run the final 42/3 innings.

David Carlile ripped a bases-loaded triple in the Hawks’ six-run fourth inning and scored on an errant throw to third base.

Lakeland improved to 4-11, 4-9 while the Trojans dropped to 10-9, 6-8.

Track and field

At Spirit Lake, Timberlake captured the boys championship of its own invitational meet while the Tiger girls finished second to Bonners Ferry. The Timberlake boys scored 182 points to double the total of second-place Kellogg. Bonners Ferry’s girls scored 147 points, 31 more than Timberlake. Sophomore John Macklin led Timberlake’s boys, winning the 110-meter hurdles and the pole vault. Timberlake’s girls were led by junior Lynsie Powers, who won the long and triple jumps Priest River’s AshLee Rey won the 100, 200 and 400. Bonners Ferry’s Katie Poston captured the shot put and discus.
