The Saxons, who entered Friday a game behind first-place Mt. Spokane, staked visiting Lewis and Clark to a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.

And then there were three. Four GSL soccer teams were tied for first place going into the day’s league play. When the dust cleared, three remained deadlocked for the league lead – all at 9-2.

Mead overcame a 2-0 first-half deficit to knock Ferris out of a share of first place in the GSL by beating the Saxons on their home field in a shootout. Kyle and Taylor Yonago each scored in the first 11 minutes to give the Saxons (10-3, 8-3) the lead, but the Panthers answered with a first-half goal by Jason Hamer and Michael Schriver‘s goal two minutes into the second half. For the second time in two weeks, Mead’s Amy Eneroth carded a 3 under par to win a tournament. Last week, it was a 3-under 69 to win a GSL tournament at Esmeralda. This time, it was a 3-under 68 to capture the Big East Invitational at Wandemere.
