Rangers 10, Orioles 3: At Arlington, Texas, David Dellucci hit a grand slam and Mark Teixeira hit his 30th home run as Texas beat Baltimore.

Blue Jays 8, Yankees 5: At Toronto, Shea Hillenbrand hit a home run, stole home and drove in three runs to lead Toronto to a victory over New York and Randy Johnson.

Indians 4, Tigers 2: At Detroit, Jake Westbrook won his fourth straight start, Jhonny Peralta hit a home run and Grady Sizemore had an RBI triple to lead Cleveland over Detroit.

Athletics 16, Royals 1: At Kansas City, Mo., rookie Dan Johnson homered for the fourth consecutive game, Mark Ellis had three hits and drove in four runs, and Oakland beat Kansas City.

Twins 4, Red Sox 3: At Minneapolis, reliever Mike Timlin threw wildly to first base on a sacrifice bunt attempt in the ninth – Boston’s second throwing error in the inning – allowing Minnesota to score the winning run in a victory over the Red Sox.

Devil Rays 6, Angels 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Julio Lugo had a pair of RBI singles among his three hits and Tampa Bay beat West-leading Los Angeles.

National League

Mets 2, Cubs 0: At New York, Jae Seo, recalled from the minor leagues to make the start, outpitched Greg Maddux and New York beat Chicago. Seo (3-1) allowed just four hits in 7 1/3 innings, sending the Cubs to their fourth straight loss and fifth in six games.

Braves 8, Cardinals 1: At St. Louis, Tim Hudson gave up one run in seven innings for his 100th career win, while Andruw Jones homered twice – one a grand slam – and Atlanta beat St. Louis.

Giants 5, Astros 2: At San Francisco, Noah Lowry allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings to help San Francisco win a home series for the first time since May, beating Houston.

Pirates 9, Dodgers 4: At Pittsburgh, Zach Duke became the second rookie in Pirates history to win his first five decisions as a starter, although he allowed more than one run for only the second time in his short career in pitching Pittsburgh past Los Angeles.

Reds 4, Marlins 3: At Cincinnati, Ken Griffey Jr. doubled to start Cincinnati’s two-run sixth inning and the Reds rallied for a victory over Florida.

Padres 3, Nationals 2: At Washington, Joe Randa hit an RBI double in the seventh inning, leading . West-leading San Diego past Washington.

Phillies 8, Brewers 2: At Philadelphia, Jon Lieber pitched seven strong innings for his 10th win and Jimmy Rollins homered among his three hits and scored three runs as Philadelphia defeated Milwaukee.

Rockies 14, Diamondbacks 7: At Phoenix, Ryan Shealy drove in four runs and Dustan Mohr hit a two-run home run to highlight a five-run fourth inning, and Colorado rallied to beat Arizona.
