University of Fun Summer Day Camp – The Northeast Youth Center, 4001 N. Cook St., offers a licensed day camp providing activities and field trips for ages 5-12. Papier-Mâché Animal Contest – Kids are invited to enter papier-mâché animals into the Spokane County Interstate Fair’s second-annual contest, Sept. 9-18 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St. Labeled creations can be dropped off at area Les Schwab Tire Centers until Sept. 7. Express Summer Care – Spokane Public Schools is now taking enrollments for the Express Summer Program that runs through Aug. 26. For information about this program, call 354-7312.

Teen Adventure Camp – Teens 13-15 can enjoy adventure activities such as paddle boating, rock climbing and shooting pool at the Northeast Youth Center, 4001 N. Cook St. Cost of $87 per week includes USDA breakfasts and lunches, T-shirt and field trips. Spokane County Library District Events – From storytime sessions to computer classes, the month of August is packed with activities for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, teens and adults. Contact your area library for events, dates and times, or visit www.scld.org.

Before- and After-school Programs – Educational and fun programs are available at the Northeast Youth Center, 4001 N. Cook. Transportation to and from some local elementary schools is available and state pay is accepted. Includes a USDA approved snack. Jump Rope Academy – Instruction includes single rope and double Dutch, 2727 N. Madelia St., Suite 5; ages 2-adult. Monday-Saturday. Free introduction class. Birthday and group workshops; $8 per person. Combination parent and child classes; motor skill and brain-development exercises. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday classes available.
