2 men charged in alleged recycling scheme

Associated Press

POCATELLO, Idaho – Police in southeastern Idaho have arrested two men they say were involved in an illicit recycling scheme in which they allegedly stole valuable metal from local businesses and then fenced it for cash.

Police arrested Idaho Falls residents William Seibert, 41, and James Worden II, 31. They’ve been charged with grand theft in 7th District Court for stealing copper wire from a Pocatello warehouse. Police Capt. Kirk Nelson said the pair also stole a 500-foot bundle of fiber optic cable from the same warehouse.

In addition, another man is in the Bonneville County Jail in Idaho Falls on a grand theft charge for allegedly stealing 1,000 pounds of aluminum from someone in that area, law enforcement agents said. They believe the man was also involved in the copper-wire theft, though he hasn’t been charged in connection with that case.
