Search and Rescue recruiting – The Spokane City/County Search and Rescue Explorer Post is looking for adult advisers and new youth members age 14 and up. Run by the Department of Emergency Management, members help police look for lost hunters or downed planes, among other tasks. Open houses are scheduled for today, 5-7 p.m., at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division; and Sept. 10, 9-11 a.m. at Spokane County Fire District 8 Station 81, 57th and Palouse Highway, and 1-3 p.m. at Medical Lake City Hall.

Child ID – A Smart Parent-Safe Baby event will be at all Wal-Mart stores Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The National Center for Mission and Exploited Children and other agencies will give out free child-identification kits.
