Oh, the weather outside is …ok, the weather outside is iffy. But December brings the promise of plunging temperatures, icy roads and snow on the roof.

Take care of the December chores in our home owner’s almanac before you hang those stockings on the fireplace or the lights on the roof.

Indoors

•Make sure the humidifier is working properly.

•Take a minute to check the attic and basement for ways pests might get in. Squirrels and mice can damage wiring and insulation.

•Block drafts by hanging insulated draperies and blinds.

Outdoors

•Turn off outdoor faucets.

•Stock up on sidewalk de-icer.

•Keep snow shovels, windshield squeegees and scrapers and other maintenance tools handy and easy to find in a large plastic trash container. Punch holes in the bottom so melting snow can drain.
