How to put ‘snap’ in house

If you’re one of those who thinks nothing is complete without a little something extra – a flourish of ribbon, a fringe of beads or hand-painted accents – you’ll love “Embellish Your Home, by Dena.”

Written by Dena Fishbein, host of the DIY Network series, Embellish This, “Embellish Your Home” is a great source for tips and ideas and inspirational photos.

Fishbein leaves no stone, not to mention lamp, chair, water goblet or wall, unturned or untouched.

Most of the ideas in the book are high-impact, low-labor creations and call for items you might (if you’re the crafty type) already have around the house.

Others, like the basket lamp that utilizes a vintage flower basket and grape vines and a discount store light fixture, would be fun to shop for.

The table made from a small desk with a damaged top is one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?” ideas that is simple but charming.

There are ideas for creative techniques for adding a little impact to the walls of your home as well as a few child-friendly projects that could keep little hands busy over school holidays.
