Freeman dominated Northeast A basketball last season, with both the girls and boys teams going 6-0 in league play. The Scotties girls had a bittersweet ending as Colfax, after falling to Freeman three times prior to the State 1A tournament, beat the Scotties 53-44 in the state final. Things will be more difficult this season for Freeman, which lost six players who were either first- or second-team all-league selections last season, including league MVP Malcolm Soelberg.
