‘The Nutcracker’ presented at Beasley

After a two-year absence, Washington State University will host two performances of “The Nutcracker” ballet on Sunday at Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.

The traditional holiday ballet, set to music by Tchaikovsky, will be danced by the Eugene (Ore.) Ballet Co.

Performances are Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $26 to $14 for adults, $26 to $12 for students and $26 to $8 for children, through TicketsWest outlets (325-SEAT, 800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com).

‘The Toy Shelf’

Dance Theatre Northwest, accompanied by guest artists from Ballet Spokane, will present its annual holiday production of “The Toy Shelf” on Saturday at 2 and 5 p.m. at the Valley Performing Arts Center at Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Road.

The program, written and choreographed by Janet Wilder, tells the story of toys and dolls that come to life to defend themselves against burglars.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students, children and seniors, through TicketsWest and the Academy of Dance, 922-3023.
