Brewer bolsters Bulldogs during easy win

Michael Brewer recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Sandpoint’s boys basketball team in a 90-30 non-league win over visiting St. Maries on Wednesday.

Brian Schultz paced the Bulldogs (3-0) with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 shooting from the free-throw line. Andrew Lattin chipped in with 10 points.

Zech Szalasi of the Lumberjacks (1-3) hit four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 15 points.

The Bulldogs took a 51-12 lead at the half and cruised the rest of the way. The controlled the rebounding game by a 55-21 margin, and had just nine turnovers, 10 less than St. Maries.

Girls basketball

Bridgitt Bohannon and Brigitte Boucher combined for 35 points as Lakeland steamrolled visiting Lewiston 54-41 in Inland Empire League play. Bohannon grabbed 10 rebounds to go with her game-high 18 points. Boucher poured in 17 points for the Hawks (6-1, 1-1). Brittney Devorak led the Bengals (3-4, 0-4) with 11 points.

Gymnastics

Central Valley placed all five in the top five all-around and glided to a Greater Spokane League meet win at Lewis and Clark. … Elsewhere, Sarah Miller placed in three events and won the all-around as host Shadle Park won a three-way meet.
