Make gift complete

The Spokesman-Review

As the holiday season approaches, some gift lists may include a dog. It is a great gift if the recipient has adequately prepared for the long-term commitment. Dogs usually come with a liberal return policy but taking advantage of that policy takes an emotional toll on both people and dogs.

A dog given alone is like giving one ski glove. When a license, spay or neuter voucher and a gift certificate to a training class is given with it, the package is more complete.

Training makes for a happy dog. He can go more places with his family because he is well behaved in public, the family is more relaxed and less frustrated and the shelter population becomes more manageable with fewer surrendered dogs. For information on classes, contact your local shelter or check the phonebook.
