Moscow, Idaho, police are asking anyone who has had sex with Kanay A. Mubita to contact them.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having sex with two women without disclosing that he is HIV-positive.

Idaho law requires people with HIV to disclose their status to potential sexual partners.

Mubita was booked into the Latah County Jail on charges of transferring a body fluid that may contain HIV, according to a press release from the Moscow Police Department.

Lt. Dave Lehmitz said the alleged incidents occurred in the Moscow area.

An investigation revealed that Mubita may have had multiple sex partners during the past three years, the press release said.

Kootenai County is prosecuting a similar case.

Mark Arnold Crawford, 37, who pleaded guilty to having sex with a woman and failing to tell her he had HIV, was scheduled for sentencing in September. Just days before sentencing, Prosecutor Bill Douglas’ office learned there may have been another victim.

The sentencing hearing was canceled, and the charges against Crawford were refiled with an additional charge. The case is pending.

The case against Crawford was the first of its kind in North Idaho and the second in the state.

A former college basketball player was convicted of having sex with a number of partners in the 1990s. Kerry Thomas was sentenced to seven years for failing to tell those women he was HIV-positive. Authorities said he didn’t use a condom.
