Award-winning poet reading at Auntie’s

The Spokesman-Review

National Book Award-winning poet Gerald Stern, author of 10 books of verse, will read from his collected works on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore, Main and Washington.

Stern, a native of Pittsburgh, won the National Book Award in 1998 for “This Time: New and Selected Poems” (W.W. Norton, 288 pages, $15.05 paper).

A longtime teacher at the University of Iowa’s Writer’s Workshop, he has won a number of other awards, including four National Endowment for the Arts grants.

Stern’s appearance is sponsored by Eastern Washington University’s graduate program in creative writing. For further information, call 838-0206.
