Julia wasn’t content to simply wag her tail to show how pleased she was to have visitors in a Spokane County Regional Animal Care and Protection Society shelter play yard. No, she had to jump up and plant her front paws firmly on each person’s upper leg. Julia is still a puppy and it’s apparent she’s had no training. She doesn’t know basic commands or how to walk on a leash. But she was friendly and sat calmly while being petted. She was picked up with two litter mates while wandering near Bigelow Gulch and Orchard Prairie Road on Feb. 3.

Anyone interested in adopting Julia or other animals can visit the SCRAPS shelter at 2521 N. Flora Road, call the shelter at 477-2532 or visit the Web site at www.spokanecounty.org/animal. Dogs cost $75.01 to adopt, which includes a license, neutering, vaccinations, a microchip implant and a trip to the veterinarian.
