Better Body Fitness offers exercise gear

 (The Spokesman-Review)

Spokane Valley residents who made a New Year’s resolution to get in shape should take note of the new Better Body Fitness location at Broadway and Argonne.

The store sells home and commercial exercise equipment including stationary bikes, treadmills, home gyms, free weights and accessories. Available brands include Bowflex, Nautilus, Schwinn, Cybex and Life Fitness.

The commercial versions of equipment are both sturdier and more expensive. “Everything about it (commercial) is built better,” said fitness consultant Joe Kleinsmith. “It’s designed to be used all day. Home equipment is lighter.”

The company, owned by Jim and Lisa McKee, also has a North Spokane location. That location handles all the service calls and delivery. The Valley location was picked partly because of its easy access to the freeway, Kleinsmith said. “It’s kind of central. It’s between the South Hill and Liberty Lake.”

The store opened two weeks ago. “We wanted to get in here for January to take care of the busy season,” he said. “It’s a beautiful store. It’s really laid out nicely.”

Better Body Fitness is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Taco Del Mar in the Valley

Taco Del Mar, known for its fish tacos, now has a Valley location.

Franchise owners Sarah and Indy Dehal opened their doors on Dec. 30. “We make fresh guacamole and fresh salsa every day,” Sarah Dehal said.

The restaurant also is known for its large burritos. Customers select the type of beans and meat and can choose added ingredients. Combos are available as well as a children’s menu.

Dehal is happy with her restaurant’s location at 509 N. Sullivan Road. “We have a lot of schools around here, the mall is down the street. We’re on people’s way home from work.”

The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
