Flaherty leads Priest River past St. Maries

Priest River rode the hot hand of Jake Flaherty to a 55-46 win over visiting St. Maries in Intermountain League play on Saturday night.

Flaherty was 3 of 5 from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Spartans (7-6, 2-1). Cameron Michael finished with 13 points for the Lumberjacks (4-7, 0-3).

Clark Fork stages comeback

Clark Fork staked visiting Post Falls Christian to a 10-point lead in the first half, but rallied to take a 65-56 North Star League upset. The Wampus Cats (2-5, 1-1) took the lead late in the third quarter and pulled away down the stretch by shooting 26 of 31 from the free-throw line. Clayton Hewitt had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead Clark Fork.. Brack Adkins paced the Eagles (11-5, 5-3) with 13 points.

Free throws lift Priest River

Priest River shot 29 of 44 from the free-throw line to turn away visiting St. Maries, 65-50, in an Intermountain League girls basketball victory. Calli Turner paced the Spartans (7-7, 4-4) with 15 points. Kristi Smith tossed in 23 points, hitting 10 of 11 for the free-throw line, to lead the Lumberjacks (6-8, 2-2). … Bonners Ferry 69, Timberlake 37: The entire Badgers lineup scored and the team collectively hit 31 of 43 from the line. Katie Poston had 17 points to lead Bonners Ferry (7-5, 3-1). Lynsie Powers had 16 points to lead the Tigers (4-11, 0-4).

Miners start fast, bury Mullan

Wallace (12-3, 6-0) put visiting Mullan (1-11, 1-3) in a hole early, shutting out the Tigers in the second quarter to take a 28-3 halftime lead en route to a 54-23 North Star League victory. … Clark Fork 59, Post Falls Christian 40: Three players did the bulk of the scoring for the Wampus Cats (3-7, 2-3). Rashell Trunnell scored 19 points and grabbed 20 rebounds; Rayna Allen scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Tiffany Van Buren contributed 16 points for Clark Fork. Billie Dust had a dozen points to lead the Eagles (5-10, 0-6).
