Jesuit will speak on faith, politics

The religious studies department at Gonzaga University, 502 E. Boone Ave., is presenting the Catholicism for the New Millennium series of speakers starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Barbieri Moot Court Room of the law school.

The Rev. Frank Brennan will speak on the topic of “In the Sacristy and the Senate: Catholics and U.S. Politics.”

Brennan is a Jesuit priest and a lawyer from Australia who is currently on a one-year fellowship at Boston College.

Church presents movie

Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting the movie “Indigo” on Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m.

The movie, which stars Neale Donald Walsch, the author of “Conversations with God,” is about healing, loneliness and gifted children. The story is fictional but deals with real spiritual dynamics.

Tickets are $10, and child care will be available to those who register early.

The church is also hosting speaker David Spangler, a writer and philosopher, during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services Sunday.

Spangler will speak about “The White Between the Red and the Blue” and how life, liberty, opportunity and happiness apply spiritually.

He will also present a workshop Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the church and will speak about “Partnering with the Soul of America” and the recent divisive atmosphere in America.

The cost of the workshop is $20 per person.
