Four-run seventh inning gives Dust Devils win over Indians

PASCO – Travis Becktel went 4 for 5 with a run batted in and Pedro Strop was 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs as the Tri-City Dust Devils used a four-run seventh inning to upend the Spokane Indians 7-5 Tuesday in Northwest League baseball action.

With the game tied at 3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, T-C’s Luke Sargent singled and moved to second on a sacrifice by Sandy Almonte.

Becktel singled to score Sargent and moved to third on a wild pitch and a passed ball. Phillip Cuadrado and Michael Paulk walked to load the bases, and Jason Van Kooten walked to plate Becktel. After Brian Kirby drove in Cuadrado with a flyout, Pedro Strop doubled to center to score Paulk.

Spokane scored single runs in the eighth and ninth.

Juan Carlos Garcia (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs, two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings. Ethan Katz (1-0) earned the win for Tri-City, allowing one run and three hits in two innings of relief work. George Delgado picked up the save, his fifth of the season.

Notes

Indians pitcher Jessie Hall made his first appearance since being hit in the head by a line drive July 19. Hall went 2/3 of an inning, allowing a run and a hit with two walks. … Against the NWL West Division this season, the Indians are 10-10. They’ve won two series and lost two. … On Monday, the parent club Texas Rangers assigned reliever Jarrad Burcie to the Arizona rookie league.
