Silver Stars cruise past Sting in battle for league’s worst mark

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Marie Ferdinand scored 18 points and rookie Katie Feenstra added 14 points and 11 rebounds as the San Antonio Silver Stars ended a four-game losing streak with a 64-49 victory over the Charlotte Sting on Thursday.

In a matchup of the teams with the two worst records in the WNBA, the Silver Stars (3-10) won despite 21 turnovers. The Sting (1-9) shot 38 percent and committed 19 turnovers.

Allison Feaster scored 11 points and Sheri Sam added 10 for the Sting, who have lost six straight.

The Sting cut a 12-point first-half deficit to 37-34 on Feaster’s 3-pointer with 16:10 left. But San Antonio responded with a 9-0 run over the next 4 minutes. Feenstra had a three-point play and added another free throw off an offensive rebound in the spurt.

Feenstra made 6 of 9 free throws and had six offensive rebounds.
