The Spokesman-Review

California’s eclectic Diablo Ballet dance troupe returns to the region for performances in Sandpoint on Friday and in Pullman on Sunday.

Founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1993, the ensemble includes principal dancers from throughout the world who have danced with such companies as the Kirov Ballet, Germany’s Hannover Ballet, the National Ballet of Singapore and the New York City Ballet.

Its repertoire mixes more contemporary pieces with such classics as George Balanchine’s “Tarantella Pas de Deux.”

The group made its Inland Northwest debut in 1992 when it performed in Pullman.

Friday’s performance begins at 8 p.m. at the Panida Theater in Sandpoint. Tickets are $20 for adults ($16 for Pend Oreille Arts Council members), $8 for students 18 and under; call (208) 263-6139.

Sunday’s performance begins at 3 p.m. at Washington State University’s Beasley Coliseum in Pullman. Tickets are $28 to $12, through TicketsWest outlets (325-SEAT, 800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com).
