If you’re heading off the beaten path, you can now download off-road maps and boating charts to your cell phone using Maptech’s Outdoor Navigator. With the software, the company says, “you not only have the right maps and charts to know where you are, but if needed you can now call and tell your location.” The service is based on U.S. Geological Service topo maps and 2,300 boating charts. It works on Windows Mobile for Smartphone, Pocket PCs and Palm devices. You can also connect an optional Bluetooth GPS to show your position on the map.
