4-H tack swap Saturday at Fair and Expo Center

The 4-H Club is hosting a mega-swap meet for horse enthusiasts looking to sell or purchase tack on Saturday.

Equestrians can bring saddles, bridles and other tack to the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center on Friday.

Last year, the sale had an inventory of about 12,000 items.

“There are a lot of people every year who save up all their things to come to 4-H tack swap. It’s like an institution now,” said Ted Krauss, show coordinator.

“Anything to do with riding, we carry the whole shebang.”

This is the 27th year for the show, which is the major fund-raiser for equestrian programs for 4-H in Spokane County.

Through the program, about 250 kids learn about horse care, training and riding and compete in riding competitions and shows.

Last year’s swap moved $196,000 worth of gear. Participants pay just $1 to list their items and 4-H gets 15 percent of the purchase price for gear that sells.

Consignment items are accepted on Friday, noon to 8 p.m. at Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, Building 3.

On Saturday, the sale, which is free and open to the public, runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in buildings 2 and 3.

The Spokane County Fair and Expo Center is at 404 N. Havana St.
