Decor woes get three looks

Got a project? If you’re considering hiring a professional designer, and you’re a fan of Home and Garden Television series “Designer’s Challenge,” the show in which three designers compete to redesign a space for homeowners, you might be interested in “HGTV The Best of Designer’s Challenge: Problem Rooms Solved Three Ways.”

The book shows before-and-after photographs of 18 makeovers from the show, with information on materials used in each project.

It follows the show’s format of listing the homeowner’s design challenge and budget, and presents the solutions offered by three designers. After the homeowner selects a designer, the complete decorating and design project is profiled.

The book includes additional information not covered in-depth on the TV show – in some cases how much the budget was increased to complete the project – and is illustrated by glossy color photos.

Included with the book are a bonus project-planning workbook, which includes sample questions to ask a potential designer, a budget worksheet, and a room-arranging kit with cut-out furniture templates.
