Tree63 concert

Tree63, an alternative Christian rock band from South Africa, will play at a fund-raiser for True Light Ministries Friday at 7 p.m. at Spokane Valley Nazarene Church, 15515 E. 20th Ave. The concert also will feature special guest Aaron Spiro and the TLM Worship Band.

True Light Ministries, based in Post Falls, provides support for Northwest churches who send mission teams to Mexico.

Church dedication and speaker

Rev. Jim Rosemergy will speak about “The Prayer That God Prays” today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new Unity Center, 4123 E. Lincoln Road.

Rosemergy, author of “The Transcendent Life,” “A Closer Walk with God” and “The Sacred Human,” served as the minister of the Unity Church of Truth on the South Hill.

He will also be at the new church for its services at 10 a.m. Sunday and during the church’s official dedication at 2 p.m.

Benefit play

Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway Ave., will present the West Central Ministries Players Sunday at 2 p.m. in a reader’s theater dramatization of “On Golden Pond.”

The event, which will include a refreshment buffet and raffle items, will benefit Our Place Community Ministries, a faith-based organization which helps low-income families.

Choir concert

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present its Cathedral Choir Sunday at 4 p.m.

The choir will perform music by Gabriel Fauré, Herbert Howells and Thomas Barthelmess, the cathedral’s lead tenor, in the fourth performance of a concerts series held on the second Sunday of every month at the cathedral.

Before the concert begins, tours of the cathedral will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken.

Pentecost services

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., will celebrate Pentecost Sunday at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m.

The services will include music by pianist Carol Miyamoto, saxophonist Dan Carlson and percussionist Brendan Cessarato.

Children in Sunday school are invited to a Pentecost Party at 9:45 a.m. For information, call the church office at 747-6677.

St. Augustine Parish, 428 W. 19th Ave., will celebrate Pentecost at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The choirs of St. Augustine, Our Lady of Fatima and Hamblen Park Presbyterian will perform, and vespers will follow at 4:30 p.m.

Taize prayer service

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St., is offering another Taize prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The candlelight service, also known as Prayer Around the Cross, includes melodic chants, scripture readings and moments for personal reflection. All faiths are welcome.

Tea party

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3309 W. Rowan Ave., will hold a tea party Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. as a benefit for the church’s youth trips to Lutherhaven.

Tsunami relief lecture

Anna Schowengerdt, a Whitworth College graduate, will speak about her experiences as part of Catholic Relief Services’ response to the tsunami disaster.

Schowengerdt, who served in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, will speak at 7 p.m. Monday in the Kubiak Theater of Gonzaga Preparatory School, 1224 E. Euclid Ave.

Book reading

The Rev. Joseph Conwell, a former chairman of the theology department at Gonzaga University, will read from his books “A Brief and Exact Account: The Recollections of Simao Rodrigues on the Origin and Progress of the Society of Jesus” and “Walking in the Spirit: A Reflection on Jeronimo Nadal’s Phrase ‘Contemplative Likewise in Action’ ” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave.

Spiritual seminars

Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., is offering two seminars about spirituality this week.

Lonna Vopat , the former Mrs. Idaho, Globe 2003 and Mrs. Idaho, America, 2002, will speak on “From Maybelline to Maker: Finding your Beauty in Christ.”

Open house
