Juliana Pearson plans mission trip to Brazil

Juliana J. Pearson, a member of the Coeur d’Alene 3rd Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has received and accepted a mission call to serve in the Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mission for 18 months. She leaves on Jan. 4.

The 21-year-old Coeur d’Alene native has completed four years of LDS Seminary, attended Brigham Young University -Hawaii on a volleyball scholarship and studied at BYU-Provo before attending North Idaho College, where she played both volleyball and basketball. She was also involved in ASNIC student government and served as president of the LDS Institute Program.

She is the daughter of Rodney and Valerie Pearson of Dalton Gardens.

•A change of stake presidency recently took place at the Coeur d’Alene Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carl W. Knight will serve as the new first counselor and R. Scott Pingel will serve as second counselor to President James A. Smidt, who has served as Coeur d’Alene stake president for the past seven years.

The presidency presides over eight Coeur d’Alene area LDS wards and branches, including three Post Falls wards, a St. Maries ward and the Plummer branch.

Knight lives in Coeur d’Alene with his wife, Pamela and their four children. Pingel and his wife, Shari live in Post Falls and are the parents of nine children. Smidt lives in Coeur d’Alene with his wife, Sherene, and they have five children.
